Full Sewer Replacement — Under the Home and Into the Street
This San Clemente home had a failing 3" cast iron main underneath the foundation that was leaking into the soil — a slow leak that had likely been going for some time before symptoms appeared inside the home. The problem extended into the street, where the existing cast iron main connected to the city pipe.
Our team first excavated under the home to access and remove the cast iron main and connected a new cleanout. We then opened the street to expose the cast iron at the city connection, and from that access point performed a 45-foot pipe burst — replacing the old cast iron with high-density polyethylene pipe all the way from property to city curb connection. All connections were made with 4" ARC couplings. The street was backfilled and asphalted.

How We Got the Job Done
Confirm the full extent of the failing cast iron — under home and street
A camera inspection confirmed both the under-slab leak and the condition of the main running from the home to the city curb connection. The footage established the scope — this was not a spot repair situation — and determined the pipe burst was the correct approach for the street section.
Access and remove the leaking cast iron main under the foundation
We excavated under the home to reach the failing 3" cast iron main that was leaking into the soil. The old cast iron was removed and a new cleanout was connected at the access point, giving permanent service access to the system from above ground going forward.
Open the street to expose the cast iron at the city pipe connection
We cut and excavated the street to expose the point where the house cast iron main connected to the city pipe. This gave us the entry point for the pipe burst and allowed us to cut out the old cast iron at the city side of the connection.
Pull HDPE pipe through the old cast iron main — no full trench needed
From the street access point, we performed a 45-foot pipe burst — the bursting head fractures the old cast iron outward while simultaneously pulling new HDPE pipe behind it. The result is a new, continuous pipe in the exact same path as the old one, with no open trench required across the full 45-foot run.
ARC couplings on property and street, camera verify, backfill
All connections — property side and street side — were made with 4" ARC couplings. A post-burst camera run verified the new pipe end-to-end for alignment, connection seal quality, and flow. The street excavation was backfilled and asphalted to restore the surface.

Team Rooter is an honest company to do business! They take care the job warranty without a question. Three years ago they repaired my sewer line with trenchless sewer pipe replacement. Last weekend the sewer backup to bathroom again. Called their customer service, unfortunately all the serviceman are out at the time, I got a local plumber came right way to clean out the blockage. Next day called Team Rooter reported the problem, a supervisor discuss the situation with me by phone and offered sending a technician to site to investigate. Mr. James Craig came with Cam Video the next day found tree roots break into pipe through a coupler. He immediately authorized a repair job: to break the concrete, dig 3 ft down to reach and replace the broken pipe coupler. Two men crew showed up next day completed the job which could value of thousands dollars but all under warranty. A special thanks to Mr. James Craig, his is knowledgeable and friendly.
