The property in Santa Ana relied on a submersible pump to lift wastewater out of a below-grade pit. The trouble was what was arriving with the water: stringy material and solid debris that a standard impeller was never designed to pass. Step 1 — DIAGNOSIS
Assessing the Pit and the Failing Pump
We inspected the pump pit, the discharge piping, and the existing pump’s condition, and looked at what was actually reaching the basin. The pattern pointed to debris loading rather than a simple electrical or float fault, which told us the replacement needed a different impeller design, not just a new pump of the same type.
Step 2 — SPEC & SIZING
Selecting the Right Vortex Pump
We specified a Weil submersible vortex pump — 2 HP, 1750 RPM, 480 volt three phase at 2.0 amps, high-temperature motor, 35-inch cord — so the electrical service, discharge size, and duty of the pit were all matched. The vortex design was chosen specifically to help solids move through instead of binding the impeller.
Step 3 — ISOLATION
Locking Out Power and Pulling the Old Pump
Power to the pump circuit was shut down and locked out before anyone worked in the basin. We disconnected the old pump’s wiring and discharge connection, lifted the unit clear of the pit, and cleaned the basin area so the new pump would seat correctly on a clean base.
Step 4 — INSTALLATION
Setting and Connecting the New Pump

Team Rooter is an honest company to do business! They take care the job warranty without a question. Three years ago they repaired my sewer line with trenchless sewer pipe replacement. Last weekend the sewer backup to bathroom again. Called their customer service, unfortunately all the serviceman are out at the time, I got a local plumber came right way to clean out the blockage. Next day called Team Rooter reported the problem, a supervisor discuss the situation with me by phone and offered sending a technician to site to investigate. Mr. James Craig came with Cam Video the next day found tree roots break into pipe through a coupler.
